Hi, I'm Maria, a Cambridge-qualified English teacher with 10+ years of experience, and I help people speak English spontaneously and say what they think clearly and confidently, learning the language they actually need from their own conversations, without memorising lists of words they'll never use.
So that they can join discussions on a wide range of topics, or make their case, build an argument and be taken seriously in meetings, negotiations, and presentations.
You know the rules. You can do the exercises. But when someone asks for your opinion, the words don't come when you need them.
You already have all that you need. It's time to run the experiment.
Years of study have given you vocabulary, grammar, structure. That's a real and valuable foundation.
What's often missing is an opportunity to try out what you know, make mistakes as part of the experiment, get feedback, and go again.
That's exactly what EngLab is.
In a laboratory, a mistake isn't a failure — it's data. It shows you exactly what's worth exploring next.
Accuracy matters — but it comes through practice, not through waiting for the perfect moment to speak.
Like any good laboratory, a safe environment for experiments. Live conversations on genuinely interesting topics. And a researcher by your side to help you express your thoughts more precisely.
We will work together to prepare you for spontaneous conversations on a variety of topics, where you have to express your ideas clearly and confidently in order to hold and defend your view. These skills carry over into meetings, negotiations, presentations, and any conversations we have in our daily lives.
Three simple steps
Questions like "What's stronger, habit or principle?" or "What's the difference between knowing and understanding?" You decide how personal your answers get.
When you reach for a word and don't have it, we find it together. When the grammar is broken, we fix it. All the language we discovered in class goes into your personal lexical bank, which you will then come back to at home. And because it is the language that you needed to express your idea, it will be much easier to remember.
At the start of the next class, we practise your own language through short games and exercises, so it stays with you.
Your first class is free.
